2022-2023 A message from your Chairman, Kim Washburn
Provided below is a copy of the new insurance paperwork for Tootsie Rolls because the old one expired in June 2022. If you need a copy of the Certificate of Coverage for your upcoming drive, please copy and paste from the information provided below (until the new insurance paperwork is posted on the WA KofC State website. Once that's done, I'll remove this information since it won't be needed here anymore. Thank you for your patience. Vivat Jesus!!

It’s early in the season and the Helping People with
Intellectual Disabilities Campaign is just getting started. This most worthy
program started in 2011, by me. Jack (my late golden retriever) and I debuted
the program donning aprons at the Summer meeting of 2011. The two of us made
several appearances at Tootsie Roll Drives throughout the state for several
years. He LOVED to wear his apron. Though he has since passed, he will remain the
Tootsie Roll Mascot as I cannot bring myself to remove him.
Washington State has raised over $1.2 million since
inception with over 85 organizations benefiting.

Campaign
for Helping People with Disabilities
Our Campaign for Helping People with Disabilities is one of the most
popular and successful fundraisers conducted by Washington state and local
councils for the benefit of helping people with disabilities. This high
visibility program has led to the campaign being referred to as the “Tootsie Program.” How does it work?
How does it work? It involves collecting donations outside
stores, parishes and on street corners. In appreciation for a donation, the
donor is offered a good size tootsie roll with the unique KofC emblem and
reference to the program. A two paragraph statement about the Knights of
Columbus is on the inside.
Columbus Charities retains 20% for Special Olympics
Washington (SOWA). Your council is encouraged to direct the remaining 80% to
local 501 (c) (3) organizations that deal with the disabled in some way.

Please help us meet our goal of $120,000 this year. There
are many that need your help both statewide and locally.
Fraternally,
Kim Washburn PSD, Tootsie Roll Chairman tootsieroll@kofc-wa.org IPSD@kofc-wa.org 509.888.6300 (leave a message if
