Brother Knights,
What a great Summer Leadership meeting we had! For those that did not make the meeting let me brief you on what you missed. As General Program Chairman, I am in charge of the following areas:
This is our State Team and our mission is to make it easier for you to do your job. So who are the people we want to help in particular? COUNCIL PROGRAM CHAIRMAN. Why? Because you are the guys who will put together programs for your councils or will run the ones that are already established. Your council programs truly represent GOD’s WORK! To take part and participate in these programs, whether that is providing hospital equipment for the poor and medically disabled or building an addition onto the church, or what ever your programs are…these tasks are GOD’s WORK and doing God’s work is AWESOME and that’s what we are all about.
So Council Program Chairmen and State Chairmen, before we can work together, we need to know each other! At the summer meeting the State Chairmen and the Council Program Chairmen got together for a morning of introductions and interaction with Supreme Director Fred Abraham, Supreme Membership & Program Coordinator Pat Maloney, Tom Weber PSD, and me. We all had ideas for the year and now it’s time to get together and get them going.
My team has been tasked with getting to know the Council Program Chairman in any and all ways that they can so that we can get good solid projects going in the State. Council Program Chairman, make their jobs easy- use them- get to know them- they, as well as I, want nothing more than your success!!! The payoff is clear-We get to do God’s work!!!
One of the other Programs that I will be managing this year is the State Deputy’s 1000 Point Club. Your Council’s Programs are God’s work and the monthly Service Program Report that you will fill out every month for the next ten months is your Council’s report card. Each month, your Council Program Chairman needs to fill out either one of the paper forms or submit a report electronically on the State web-site. I will collect these forms that you send and I will compile them and keep track of how and what your Councils are doing.
As you look at the form you can see that each area that your Council participates in is assigned points and there are 1630 possible points that a Council can earn every year. If a Council makes 1000 points, then the Grand Knight receives the State Deputies 1000 Point Club Award. This is a prestigious award that is testimony to a healthy Council and a great Grand Knight. Every Grand Knight should have earning this award as one of his goals.
Last year we tried to do this program without the forms but the results were disappointing, so we are going back to the monthly forms. My own opinion is that the forms are fine, but please remember that I am collecting forms from every Council in the State, every month and compiling the stats.
Brothers, all I ask is to please submit your forms.
When I say that this form is your Council’s report card I am selling this work short. There are a number of other benefits that a council can derive from participating in this program. First, it will aid you in filling out your yearly Columbian Award Report. Secondly, when it is time to do Service Program Award Write-ups, you will have a record of the programs that your council undertook for the year. Finally, this report can be a basis for budget planning for the council next year- what programs you will do and what will they cost. This program is well worth participating in.
Finally, I am looking forward to a successful year for all of you and I wish you nothing but the best, and if there is anything that I can do for you feel free to call or e-mail me. I will do what I can to help you.
Your General Program Chairman & Friend-In-Christ,
Bob Baemmert-SW
